My mom who is type 2 introduced me to Dressing your Truth about 2 years ago. And my journey discovering which type I am has been funny. We both knew what I wasn't, and other people thought I was type 1. And my Type 4 was really right in front of me the whole entire time. Because, through out my whole life, I've felt more mature than some that were my same age. Most of the people I get along with are those that are older than me, and those that are younger than me, and act older than what they are. I've always liked being cute, but liked being simple and structured. I very rarely do what my type 1 youngest sister does. Her expressions as a type 1 aren't any where close to how I was as a child. My mom always told me that I expressed as a type 2, but I've tried on her clothes, and as a type four in type 2 clothing or hair styles. Not a good combination. Remember my story last year where I practically dressed all 4 types with my work outfit. I had type 2 hair due, type 1 make-up on( I thought I was type 1 last year), and my work uniform. I felt sluggish, confused, and really tired, totally not myself at all! I finally thought to myself screw this. I was so desperate to put my hair up that I grabbed a rubber band so that I get my tasks done in a timely manner. I felt so much better I felt closer to normal.
Another thing I realized was that my dominant trait was not type 1 is; I despise gold with the passion. If I have a little bit of gold on something, I refuse to wear it. I avoid gold like the plague. I am a strait up silver/white gold jewelry girl. So I rebelled against my type 1 and wore black and anything I had that was bold. And it was so refreshing, it felt so good! Oh I loved it. This was last summer. And I tended to go back and forth between type 4 and type 1 till maybe about a month ago, where I felt I finally accepted my type 4 energy. I had to reflect on how I've observed myself through out my life, and heard stories from my mom. I'm not motivated, I don't like to be told by other people who I am "supposed" to be. I am my own person and I want to figure out which energy I am at my own time and place, and pace. I don't like it! My parents know it, and heck my husband knows it. I like to figure things out on my own. And that can be a strength and a weakness. Why? Because, I get to a point where I really can't find my answer. And I get too prideful to just ask someone. I don't exactly have a Before/ After picture but I have a recent picture to show me in type 4 with what I have. I have this Jacket that I absolutely love from when I was on Swim Team in High School. I still wear it even after 6 years after high school. I love it that much. It's my favorite! I'm serious! It's total type 4. It's needless to say awesome!
My hair is naturally straight, and when it's short, it flips out like type one, but goes every each direction so I have a straightener to help shape my hair the way I want it to go. Since I have highlights and layers, I've been either keeping it straight or up in a pony tail or some cute way to have me not so serious looking.
Besides, I have a type 4 dad, and I look just like my dad except for a few extra things. ;) He's also a secondary type 1. He loves to talk to people. And when I get comfortable around people I like to talk and have fun and bring my type 1 out with my type 4. It really does make me such a lighter person instead of having my type 4 be all who I am, I get to lighten myself up and have some fun.
I'm still learning, and trying to work on getting my course switched. And still haven't had a chance yet to go online. I'm always doing something with my husband when I'm not working. And we're usually on the go, go, go. And just getting things done as fast as we can so that we both can have fun and relax.
